DIPHU, Mar 24: Prime minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced complete nationwide lockdown for 21 days with effect from 12 am tonight in the wake of increasing cases of COVID-19.
Addressing the nation at 8:00 pm today, Modi said that the lockdown is extended in order to prevent the further spread of the virus.
“Forget how stepping out your homes feel like for 21 days. Otherwise, the entire country will go back 21 days. Stay at home and only stay at home,” he said during his speech.
The prime minister also added that it is imperative to keep the fighting spirit of the people while tackling the spread of the said virus.
It can be mentioned that more than 500 cases of coronavirus have been reported in India so far and the country is trying its best to fight the dreaded virus. As the centre imposed complete lockdown, the Law and Order department were asked to clamp curfew if the people are not cooperative.
