Mad Rush in Koilamati Weekly Market Ahead of Nationwide Lockdown


KOILAMATI, Mar 24: The fear of complete lock down, mad rush was witnessed in Koilamati weekly market here today.

Villagers from different places and most notably from Phancherop, Upper Deigrum, Mai Timung, Balijan and Ok Langchar areas were seen in huge numbers in the market to buy essential commodities. Huge numbers of villagers were also seen bringing vegetables including dungkek, tara, hanjor, bananas, ginger and several other items to sell and in turn purchase of other items for their needs. Some, villagers told The Drongo Express, that they had came on foot covering around 30 kilometres to reach the market.

In addition to this, many women with kids on their backs expressed their woes over the TDE that they had not been able to sell nor purchase essential items stating as to how they are going to survive in the coming days in such situation. Further, the anxieties of the public doubled due to shutdown of several shops in Silonijan and Chokihola also creating huge shortages of rice and salt and other items.
