KAAC to remember Ru Semson Sing Ingti


DIPHU, Feb 26: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is going to observe the 72th death anniversary of Ru Semson Sing Ingti, founder of the then Mikir Hills district and Now KAAC on 28th February 2020 at Semson Sing Ingti Memorial park, Diphu sources said here today.

The programme will start from 8:00 am with garlanding of the statue of the great leader at old and new Semson Sing Ingti Park followed by prayers by different religious groups.

On spot painting competition will also be held in the later part of the day. The competition will be held for children between the age group of 8-12 followed by illumination of Semson sing Ingti parks in the evening.

It could be mentioned that, Ru Semsonsing Ingti who was the second child of late Thengkursing Ingti and Madhobi Ruth Barua.  He is lovingly called as ‘Ru’ for his work in uniting the Karbis, an indigenous ethnic group of Assam in Northeast India concentrated in the region of Assam.

He died in   February 28, 1948 at the aged 38 and was put to rest at Nagaon cemetery.
