HPU Urges Government to Protect and Expedite Peace Talk with KLNLF


DIPHU, Feb 14: The Hills People’s Union (HPU) has urged upon the centre to expedite peace talk process with KLNLF and other underground groups. This was stated in a memorandum submitted to the Union Home Minister through Karbi Anglong Deputy Commissioner here in Diphu today.

In its memorandum, the organisation urged upon the union government to speed up peace talk process with KLNLF and other militant groups in order to bring fruitful and amicable settlement.

“The Union government should be sincere to protect and promote the political, social, economical, educational, cultural land rights of the indigenous people of the district and the Karbis in particular for which the HPU graciously hope to take up the stated genuine affairs by the centre positively in favour of KLNLF,” HPU said.

The HPU also made a fervent appeal to all the stake holders and socio-cultural organizations of the district to come forward in support of the peace talk process by KLNLF and others militant groups in order to bring peace in the district.
