DLSA Disposed off 14 Cases during Lok Adalat


DIPHU, Feb 09: The National Lok Adalat was organized at Diphu along with the rest of the country during a total of 650 pre-litigation cases, 94 criminal cases and other civil and MACT cases were taken up for hearing.

During the hearing many parties from various sections of the people including the Bank of India, central Bank of India, Assam Gramin Bikash Bank, APDCL, BSNL and Advocates took part in the proceedings. During the day, a total of 14 cases were disposed off during the Lok Adalat. Sources revealed that with such creation of District Judicial Services Authority of Karbi Anglong, the weaker and the needy sections of the society have benefited at lot. Notably that, the DLSA Karbi Anglong was constituted on June 6, 2018,while the post of secretary of DLSA-Karbi Anglong, was created by Government on August 19, 2019 and accordingly N. Ahmed appointed as the first ever secretary of DLSA,-Karbi Anglong on January 30, 2020.

It may be mentioned that the main thrust of Lok Adalats is on compromise. While conducting the proceedings, a Lok Adalat acts as a conciliator and not as an arbitrator. Its role is to persuade the parties to hit upon a solution and help in reconciling the contesting differences. When no compromise is reached, the matter goes back to the court.
