KAAC to introduce Karbi as an elective subject

DIPHU, Jan 13: After years of hard work in developing the Karbi language, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has decided to introduce Karbi subject as one of the elective subjects in all Government and Private schools from this academic year. This was stated by CEM Tuliram Ronghang while addressing the media at KASA indoor stadium today.

Addressing a press conference, CEM said, “We are going to introduce Karbi as an elective subject in both Government and private institutions from class I to IX”.

CEM also said that the state government has already signed MoU with KAAC during Congress regime seven years ago but the particular accord could not be implemented due to some unavoidable reasons.

He also declared that KAAC is looking forward to introduce Karbi (MIL) to higher classes from next academic year.

“The intention behind introducing the subject at the school level is to make them learn different languages while they are young without putting it as a burden on them,” CEM stated during the press conference.
