GDPU conducts free eye check-up camp



TUMPRENG, Jan 13: In an effort to extend assistance towards the poor people, the Greater Dongkamukam Press Union (GDPU) organized a free eye treatment camp at Langhemphi in West Karbi Anglong on Sunday.

The free eye treatment camp for the poor people of the area was conducted by medical officers and medical staffs from Nagaon ERC Hospital with the support of GDPU.

The camp commenced from 10 am and concluded at 4 pm during which 386 people including women and children turned up. Free medicines and glasses were given to people as per the requirement while frames were given at at a discount of 60%. Out of the total people who turned up for the check-up, 25 people have been identified as patients who will need operation and therefore, they will be taken to ERC Hospital in Nagaon within January for the operation which would be carried out for free.

Meanwhile, GDPU secretary British Ronghang conveyed his gratitude on behalf of GDPU towards the ERC doctors and their staffs, adviser Sujit Ronghang, contractor Komol Giri, LAMPS secretary Thakuria, WKA SP and ex-KSYC member Rajiv Rongphar amongst others for their support and assistance in conducting the free eye treatment camp for poor people of Langhemphi area.
