DIPHU, Jan 11: Protest against Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 continued with All Assam Students’ Association (AASU) Diphu Regional Committee along with 30 organizations taking out torch rally demanding the central government for its repeal.
The protest rally was taken out from Diphu Ru Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park to Diphu main market during which leaders and members of Karbi Students’ Association (KSA), All Dimasa Students’ Union (ADSU), Gorkha Students’ Union and several senior citizens of Diphu and youth took part to show their solidarity in the demand for its immediate repeal.
Leaders of the protesting organizations said that democratic protest would continue until its withdrawal. The leaders also urged upon the people not to give up even if its official notification has arrived for its implementation. AASU Diphu Regional Committee secretary Shorjun Hanse said that that protest would continue and will grow bigger in the days to come and urged the people for more support to protect the people of the state without any discrimination based on religion, sex or race.
Hanse also said that BJP had been organizing peace rally across the state yet there was not a single mention or statement on CAA urging the saffron party to donate money to the poor and needy people instead of wasting money on organizing meetings.
