CEM inaugurates 11 books by emerging writers


DIPHU, Jan 8: Eleven books written by emerging Karbi writers were today released by the CEM, KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang during an Official Book Launch Event held today at the Auditorium Hall of KAAC Secretariat.

Team Karbi Anglong along with the MP of Karbi Anglong, Horensing Bey also attended the event. During his inauguration speech, CEM had urged upon the younger generation to work for the development and protection of Karbi language and literature and to promote our rich culture. Emphasizing the on the lack of financial support to the upcoming writers of the district, he also announced to provide a onetime grand-in-aid of Rs. 50000 from the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council to all the young writers of the district within 2020. Mr. Ronghang also called upon all sections of the society to come forward to extend their assistance to the aspiring writers.

The 11 books that were released were – 1. Ser Hongthom (Transliterated version), a historical novella by Ru Bonglong Terang, 2. The Hills in Rhyme –  An anthology of Karbi and English poems compiled by Jambili Literary Foundation, 3. Inut Angturr Kachepa’er Animsopi – collection of Karbi poems by On Teron, 4. Samphrika Aharchi Kirik- Collection of Karbi short-stories written by On Teron, 5. Ne Kaheman Amang – a collection of Karbi poems by Biren Hanse, 6. Hirjir Asere – Collection of Karbi poems by Khorsing Ingti, 7. Nerong Henlo Nehirjir – collection of Karbi poems by Khorsing Ingti, 8. Longing – collection of Karbi and English poems by Hingchong Tisso, 9. Kechokche Komat – Karbi short-stories by Welsing Hanse, 10. Kejok Aningve – Karbi short-stories by Welsing Hanse, 11. An Encounter and other short-stories – English short-stories by Welsing Hanse

It is worthwhile to mention here that the books had been brought out by the efforts of Jambili Literary Foundation under the financial support of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council. The books had been published by Bluerose Publishers, New Delhi and Evincepub Publishing, Bilaspur, Chattisgarh. All the 11 books have ISBN numbers and can be purchased from online stores like Amazon, Flipkart, etc.

The book launch was graced by hundreds of well-wishers, family members and friends of the writers, literary enthusiasts from the district and media persons.
