DIPHU, Nov 07: Regional party Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) and its allied wings comprising of SDC, Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) and Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA) has expressed their support to North Eastern Students’ Organization (NESO) call for 11th hours Northeast bandh on 10 December, from 5 am to 4 pm, to protest against the central government’s move to pass the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. This was stated in a joint press note signed by ASDC minority i/c secretary Samuel Ronghang, KSA general secretary Jameson Timung and KNCA president Merina Beypi here in Diphu today.
“ASDC, KSA and KNCA fully support the proposed NESO Bandh called on 10th December, 2019 against CAB as the BJP led Central Govt. is likely to move the said bill in the parliament session,” read the press statement. Coming down heavily on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the regional party pointed out that the government both at the centre and state, has utterly failed failed to fulfill the promises made earlier to the people in general and to the people of Karbi Anglong in particular specially on Autonomous State issue.
Further, the party described that the BJP are bringing the disastrous bill in the parliament session, also as a conspiracy, to permanently remain in power, wherein, they have completely failed to understand the vulnerable demographic pattern of the people of Assam and particularly to the indigenous tribal people of Karbi Anglong.
“ASDC, KSA and KNCA also condemned the govt. for turning to deaf-ear to the democratic protest against the bill by various students, socio and political organization in Assam since last several months,” concluded the press statement.
