Jolt to BJP as 22 join Congress in Dokmoka



DEN ARONG, Dec 6: BJP in Karbi Anglong suffered a blow when 22 of its members from Dokmoka and its adjoining area merged with the Congress during a protest rally on CAB at Korkanthi Mondal Congress office on Friday.

The members were welcomed with open arms by Congress leaders who include KADCC president and ex-HAD minister Khorsing Ingti, ex-EM Bidyasing Rongpi, KMCC president Mensing Taro, Jirhon Hanse and others.

Apart from welcoming its new members, Congress (I) also strongly protested against the implementation of Citizenship Amendment Bill and stated that the party will never agree to the government’s decision. KADCC also resolved to organise a more vigorous protest rallies in future if the government failed to give in to their demand. The protest rally was held from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Hundreds of Congress leaders and supporters from in and around Korkanthi MAC constituency participated in the dharna.
