BOKAJAN, Dec 6: The Bokajan Block Congress Committee (BBLC) organised hunger strike from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm protesting against Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) at its office premises in Bokajan on Friday.

Addressing the gathering, Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KADCC) vice president Chandan Patikar stated that the bill is unconstitutional and it will greatly affect the culture and heritage of Assam. He also stated that the Congress will never allow the government to implement the bill and demanded the government to scrap it at the earliest.

“By trying to include Bangladeshi immigrants as Indian citizens, the BJP government is disrespecting the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the Assam agitation for deportation of illegal migrants who entered the state after March 24, 1971. Therefore, we will never allow BJP government to violate the Assam Accord and pass CAB,” Congress leaders concluded.
