AUDC students stage protest against CAB

DIPHU, Dec 06: Ahead of tabling of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 in Parliament, the Assam University Diphu Campus Student Union Society (AUDCSU) joined in the nonstop protest across the state by different organizations and groups by staging dharna in front of the university gate.

AUDCSU general secretary Kaichesong Rongpi led the protest which commenced at 10:30 am during which the university students chanted slogans in demand of the immediate withdrawal of the bill which has been vehemently protested by all north eastern states of India.

AUDCSU general secretary also added that if the demands of the protestors across the states are not fulfilled, then they would be forced to join rallies and processions held against it in the district.

AUDCSU general secretary stated that north-eastern states are not a dumping ground for illegal for citizens of Bangladesh, Aghanistan and Pakistan demanding the Centre and State for its immediate withdrawal. The students’ body also warned of severe agitation if government go ahead to table and pass the bill. The students’ union also expressed their immense disappointment against the Government for the move to pass the bill against the wishes of the people of north eastern states. The general secretary also made appeal upon all students’ fraternity to join the protest against the bill.
