9th Homage Ceremony of Kajir Ronghangpi Kohora Observed


DOLAMARA, Dec 05: The 9th homage ceremony of Kajir Ronghangpi was observed at Kohora in Karbi Anglong today.

The programme started with a prayer led by Karbi Bhaktitom Trust at around 8.30am.Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang graced the event as chief guest along with several EMs, MACs including local MAC Duarbagori Constituency Richard Tokbi, Principal Secretary, Secretaries, Officers, DFOs and others. They paid homage by offering prayers, floral tributes and lighting of candles in front of the statue of Karbi legendary heroine after whom the name of Kaziranga National Park is signified.

As part of the programme, CEM Tuliiram Ronghang Inauguration an open stage with toilet shed at Kajir Ronghangpi Memorial Park, Kohora. In his speech, CEM assured the public to revamp Kohora as a tourist destination and also promised them to beautify and bring developmental works like construction of a Guest House at Kajir Ronghangpi Memorial Park, Construction of concrete entrance gate using traditional designs by 2020.

He also appealed all sections of people to come together under single platform for the sake of Autonomous State and leave the old practice of hatred among the tribes living in the district.

Earlier, an on spot painting and drawing competition was conducted among the students divided into two categories A & B for students of Class-I to V and Class-VI to XII respectively. Altogether 65 students have participated and winners were awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 3000 for the winner, Rs. 2000 for first runner up and Rs.1000 for second runner up along with certificates.
