DIPHU, Nov 30: A crucial meeting of the Sand Mahalder Association was held at its premise today during which several important resolutions were adopted. This was informed by its Roshan Timung here today.
The association in its meeting stated that it had no objection over the decision of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) forest officials pertaining to sand supply or banning of sand mining stating that there should be strict monitor over the its mining and supply businesses to stop any illegal dealings which affects the revenues of the Council. “We are against the supply of sand beyond the district and we would assist the forest department in checking against sand mafia who was responsible in carrying the illegal business,” said the Association. The Association also said that they would ready to provide their assistance to the forest department towards hunting down people and groups involved in illegal sand supply activities.
The association informed that an audit held and further resolved to extend their assistance to special cases like construction works for medical college, important works Taralangso, Karbi Lammet Amei office and construction works related to beautification of Diphu town.
