APHLC forms unit at Upper Dikrong



DILLAI, Nov 19: Continuing its reach, the All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC) formed its unit at Upper Dikrong today.

The party branch was formed at a meeting held at SGB Kathar Ingti village which was chaired by Rakesh Terang. Rakesh Terang was appointed as the president while Dhonsing Killing was appointed as vice president. Other important members appointed to lead the branch include – Pritom Engti (general secretary) and Chandra Ronghang (assistant secretary). Altogether 14 persons were appointed as office bearers while another 20 members were also inducted as executive members.

While speaking at the gathering APHLC spokesman Angtong Ingti said, That it high time that we choose and elect true and capable leader who would lead people. He concluded his speech urging upon the people of the are to support JI Kathar in all the days to come.

APHLC vice president Rajesh Tisso during his speech said that the traditional power of village headmen have been completely taken away and handed to police after passing the Assam Gazette 2009. He also pointed out that CAB and UCC if allowed to pass and when implemented, would completely wipe out the tribal people and their traditional beliefs and institutions urging the people to oppose it.

Meanwhile, APHLC president JI Kathar during his address to the gathering said that the main reason of gradual loss of power and autonomy lies in the wrong choice of leaders and voting the wrong person in election. He urged upon the people to choose leaders wisely and not to sell their vote stating that electing right leader is the key to future and survival of the whole people and land.

On the other hand GB Moja Phangcho also said that JI Kathar is the only hope to lead and guide people to protect the rights of the people, land and its institution.
