NSM, KAWJA, SYJ KUO Jointly Hold Press Conference


DIPHU, Nov 04: After learning from their confidant that many non tribal traders operating business without trading licenses in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong, four organisations came together submitted a memorandum to Joint Secretary i/c Taxation/Revenue, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council on November 1, 2019 at his office chamber and urged him to take necessary steps and conduct inquiries on the matter.

This was informed by the organisations during a press conference held at Binapani PHED IB, Diphu on Monday.

The organisations stated t hat the non-tribal traders are operating their business in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong without trading license under the provision of Sixth schedule of the Indian Constitution.

Organisations which include Nararik Suraksha Manch (NSM), Karbi Anglong Women Justice Forum (KAWJA), Student’Youth for Justice (SYJ) and Karbi Unemployed Organization came together and decided to fight together over the matter.

NSM president Mohajan Kro while addressing the media said that the organizations had submitted an appeal letter to Kro on November 1. He further stated that the rules of KAAC which was framed under the provision of Sixth schedule of the Indian Constitution do not permit the non tribal without trading license to operate their business in the sixth schedule area.
