District Level Chavang Kut Festival held on colorful note

DIPHU, Nov 01: Annual District Level Chavang Kut Festival of the Kuki tribes was held at the Chavang Kut Hall, KNA complex in Manja today. The morning event was graced by Diphu CRPF 20 BN CO Jeany Anal, Dr. K. Doungel, Dr. PC Tuboi and leaders of several organizations from other tribes of the hill district.

The annual festival event at Manja commenced on October 31, 2019 while main programme was held today from 10:30 am. The event was hosted by Thang Tuboi and cultural exchange was held during which dance troupes from Karbi, Rengma and other tribes performed traditional dances and enthralled the huge gathering with their dance moves accompanied with melodious music, song.

During the first session, speaker Dr. L. Doungel conveyed his greetings to all guests and participants gathered at the venue. Dr. Doungel also lauded the organizer for arranging the event in a fitting manner despite various challenges. He also urged upon the people to uphold their beliefs and tradition. He also urge upon the youths to carry forward all the values and knowledge passed on to them by their elders. He also urged upon students fraternity to work hard and strive for quality education and contribute towards peace and progress at the same time.

The highlight of the annual Chavang Kut festival include afternoon session at 1:00 pm and cultural night event scheduled from 5:00 pm during which young and talented youths are expected to perform various songs and dances that include performances by Kut Band. The event will be concluded with Chavang Lau and Chavang Langpa 2019.
