DIPHU, Oct 3: The CPI (ML) Hills Party Committee and its allies staged a protest rally in front of Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park, Diphu on Thursday to protest against the government’s indifferent attitude towards the hills tribes by failing to give weight to the Sixth Schedule.
The CPI (ML) along with its allies which include HSDC, KSA, KNCA, AISA, RYA, AIPWA, KSKA, KAKISS, Nirman Shramik, AITU, SYC and SYJ also pressured the government to grant statehood to Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao hills districts and also raised their voice against Kashmir issue questioning the government’s claim of normalcy in the state.
“The BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not bring peace and harmony at Jammu and Kashmir even after 60 days of abrogation of Article 370. We also witnessed that the powers of the Sixth Schedule has been secretly revoked. Therefore, we strongly urge the government to grant statehood to the twin hills districts,” the press statement issued by AISA secretary Ranjit Kramsa said.
The party also strongly condemned the BJP government for continuous hike in prices of commodities and strongly demanded to deflate the prices immediately.
Today’s dharna was attended by a host of party leaders who include Rabi Kumar Phangcho, Pratima Enghipi, Amlong Ingti, Ranjit Kramsa and others.
