DIPHU, Oct 02: The troops of Red Horns Division launched cleanliness cum awareness drive on October 2, 2019 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti at Diphu and its adjoining areas of Manja, Bakulia and Sarihajan in East Karbi Anglong.
The cleanliness walk was carried out across a stretch of 2 kilometres covering nearby residential areas. The event witnessed the participation of enthusiast locals besides a large number of officers, JCOs and other ranks.
“The emphasis was laid on the vision of Mahatma Gandhi – Peaceful and Healthy Nation and the importance of cleanliness and sanitation not just inside our homes but across the locality one dwells in too and how it impacts our society both physically and mentally in the process of building up a healthy lifestyle,” the press statement issued by the Red Horns officials mentioned.
The press statement also mentioned that through this cleanliness drive, the populace would be expected to be more resolute in their conviction towards cleaner surroundings.
“It is expected that when they see men in uniform take up the resolution to keep the country clean, they too won’t shy away from doing their bit,” the press statement concluded.
