Awareness prog on new motor vehicle act and illegal sale of liquor held

DOLAMARA, Sept 29: An awareness program on sales and its affect on local area and society was held at Dolamara Sports Association auditorium hall today. The awareness programme was jointly organized by Dolamara police station O/C, VDP and social leaders of the area.

The awareness programme which commenced at 2 pm was chaired by ex-VDC member Dhoniram Rongphar while guests and the purpose of the programme were explained by Duarbagori Mouzadar Hori Terang. The programme was attended by VDC chairman Sarkoi Rongphar, VDC member John Ingti Kathar, ex Vdc chairman Sonaram Singnar, Tarjen Terang, and O/C Dolamara P. S Dhruba Jyoti Borah.

During his speech, Dolamara police station O/C Borah expressed lauded the people of the area for always maintaining peace and harmony stating that there has not been any violence since the past five months of his stay. OC Bora also said that sale of liquor without any permission will be strictly dealt with and hefty fines will be imposed if caught. He also stressed that liquor would only be allowed for religious funerals. Further OC Bora also explained about new motor vehicle act that have now been enforced in the whole country urging all people to strictly comply with the rules and guidelines to avoid legal actions and fines.

VDC chairman Sarkoi Rongphar expressed gratitude towards the OC for organizing an awareness program pointing out that such event was very need concluded his speech urging all the people of the area to always maintain peace and harmony and to contribute and participate in programmes organized for the greater interest and progress of the whole society.

Leaders and members of from Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) and United Karbi Students Association (UKSA) were also present at the programme.
