Correspondent – BIRSINGKI, Sept 21: A one day awareness programme on weaving was conducted by Amri Helping Hand Society (AHHS) at Umswai Green Valley here on Saturday.
The programme was led by Mirlyn Madar and guests who graced the event that include advocate Biscilica Phangchopi, engineer Susmita Phangchopi, Dimpu Gogoi and AHHS director Dipjyoty Konwar, AHHS president Binolin Phangchopi were given warm welcome and felicitated by Veronica Phamjong.
Women from Amsobra, Langorkhon, Pundurimakha, Chikdammatha, Umswai Model Amkhalam, Maikramsa , Amsai and other villages participated in the awareness programme. The need of establishing weaving centre in the area was expressed by resource persons and participants and one Mrs Tengen Puma donate land for the purpose.
While speaking at the programme, Veronica Phamjong expressed gratitude to AHHS for taking up such initiative aimed at exploring greater opportunities in the field of weaving for the women folk of the area and expressed joy and hope that the desire of establishing weaving centre would materialize very soon.
