Submits memo to KAAC forest EM
DIPHU, Sept 13: The All Party Hills Leaders’ Conference (APHLC) has demanded eviction of illegal encroachers of Village Grazing Reserve (VGR) and Professional Grazing Reserve (PGR), government land, forest land et cetera under Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council but assert that claims of indigenous Scheduled Tribes to such land be as per the law recognized by the KAAC . This was stated in a press statement issued by APHLC spokesman Angtong Engti here today.
The press statement which was issued hours after a memorandum to the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) EM i/c forest Amarsing Tisso here in Diphu today. During the submission of memorandum, the party also expressed extreme shame and disgust over MP Horensing Bey and CEM Tuliram Ronghang, declaring that Reserved Forest (RF) land would be allotted to non-tribal people, the illegal immigrants to Sixth Schedule area at a meeting held under Bithung Constituency a few days back.
The regional party terms leaders statement as ‘murder of the rights of hill tribes’ under the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India and betrayal against its own people.
While strongly condemning the MP and CEM’s statement, APHLC also expressed their deep pain being mute spectators even after knowing the consequences and charging people are dancing to the tunes played by elected representatives and their agents at various levels with the hope of benefiting different forms of financial opportunities or some with the fear of losing the same.
“Because most are engaged into this so the civil society has lost its voices against the illegal act of the KAAC. At this point of time it is very important to remember the famous quote- “The world suffers a lot. Not because of the violence of the bad people but the silence of the good people.” And further without criticism and opposition the democratic form of government cannot be deemed as healthy. As we sow shall we reap: now the KAAC has come to such an extent that it dares to act against the law of this land to help the illegal immigrant,” said the regional party.
APHLC concluded their press statement appealing the people to wake up and oppose each and every illegal act of the government and on the part of civil society.
