DIPHU, Sept 12: With an objective to enhance resilience of Indian Agriculture to climate change and climate vulnerability through strategic research and technology demonstration, a mini Mela was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Karbi Anglong, at Nilapur on Saturday. This was stated in a press statement issued by KVK Karbi Anglong SRF Larbeen Teronpi here this evening.
The Mini Mela by Karbi Anglong KVK was organized under National Innovation on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) project aimed at enhancing resilience of the country’s agriculture to climate change and climate vulnerability, SRF Teronpi stated.
The Senior Research Fellow informed that the Mela was garced, as chief guest, by Dr. Hrushikesha Senapati, Ex-Dean, OUAT, Orissa while Dr. A.K.Tripathi, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Guwahati attended as the guest of meeting honour. In addition to this, other noted guests who were also present include Dr. B. Khanpal, Director, ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Region, Tripura Centre, Dr. JVNS Prasad, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CRIDA, Dr. R.K. Saud, ADEE, AAU, Jorhat, Dr. Subal Maibangsa, Head KVK, Karbi Anglong, Dr. (Mrs.) Mercidy Maibangsa Principal Scientist (Agri. Economics), and about 124 participants including the District Agriculture department, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Cluster level Federation Self Help Groups from Dhansiri, Lumding Road and Borlangpher and Scientists from KVK also participated in the programme, informed SRF.
During the event, chief guest Dr. Hrushikesha Senapati, emphasized on the importance of moisture conservation and advised the farmers to adopt various climate resilient and water saving technologies in their fields.
Further an exhibition was organized highlighting the improved technologies, machineries along with good management practices, live models on horticultural crops and animal components etc, concluded the press statement.
