DENARONG, Sept 10: With the aim of extending their reach to more people in the district, the All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC) held a mass gathering at Phulong Hemrongvang, Howraghat on Tuesday.
The event was chaired by Kursing Timung while Dhuniram Timung briefed out the event details and proceed towards guest introduction. The event was attended by retired IAS J.I. Kathar as chief guest, Rajen Timung, Semson Teron, speaker Angtong Engti as guest of honour, while Rajesh Tisso, Reetu Kramsapi, Jona Terang, Basapi Enghipi as guest and other dignitaries also attended the meeting.
In address to the gathering Kathar points out that the land and belongings of Karbi Anglong should be kept within oneself. The KAAC Authority should frame strict rules and regulation to protect one’s rights and that the land pattas of Kopili Constituency should be only given to the indigenous tribes of the early dwellers as Karbi population is shrinking while the numbers of migrants has gone up. Kathar informed that the public meeting has been convened by APHLC in order to strengthen power and rule of KAAC.
A committee within Howraghat areas was also formed during the meeting for which several persons have been appointed to look over the functioning of the newly formed committee.
