Former Cultural, Social Worker and Local Party Leader Sondrosing Engti No More

AMRI, Sept 06: Noted Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) Birsingki branch former secretary and Amri Chinthong KCS secretary Sondrosing Engti passed away at his home in Umpanai on Wednesday.

Regarded as one of the noted local leader, Engti had been battling cancer since 2017 and had undergone medical treatment at various hospitals in Nagaon, Guwahati and at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in Shillong before returning home where he continued his medication until his sudden death on Wednesday.

He was very active with ASDC movements between 1987-1989, in the capacity of Birsingki Branch secretary, and also became ASDC Amri Constituency secretary from 1989-1991. He was also appointed as CDC chairman in 1998-2000 and also as Amri Chinthong KCS Zonal Committee secretary for the year 2007. Engti was also elected as Armi Lamp chairman for two terms from 2013 to 2015. In addition to this, he also became Amri Mamdal Congress president for seven months and finally as KCS finance secretary in the year 2016. Engti was a very active member of his church where he was also finance secretary and Deacon for three terms.

He is survived by his wife Nolybon Myrchiang, his daughters and sons – Jumika Engtipi, Armonika Engtipi, Cliff Rechard Engti, Bristerly Engti and Madona Engtipi and their family and grandchildren.
