BJP to blame for defective NRC list: ASDC

DIPHU, Sept, 02: The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) in a press statement issued by its finance secretary Sanjay Killing said that BJP is totally responsible for the publication of defective National Registration of Citizenship (NRC) final list on August 31.

Mentioning that the government is blaming the officers engaged in NRC works, ASDC said that it is useless to blame them because those officers will not have the courage to exclude the names of family members of former President of India and a war veteran without anyone dictating them.

“What proof is required when the family members of the former President of India and war veteran who defended the country were excluded from the final NRC list to say that this is a futile exercise? Even powerful cabinet minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP State president Ranjit Das have tried to put the blame on officials for the NRCfiasco,” ASDC said.

ASDC further stated that it had reasons to believe that the indigenous tribes of twin hills districts Karbi Anglong and North Cachar Hills (Dima Hasao) have also been excluded from the NRC that was published recently.

“ The intention of the BJP government is to include names of large population of Hindu origins who had migrated illegally while excluding the names of indigenous people of the state for their vote bank politics, On the other hand, spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. Of India has come out with a statement saying that those excluded person are not stateless or foreigner and they will continue to enjoy all rights like before. Then what is the use of spending crores of rupees and also engaging thousand of officials for the purpose,” ASDC concluded.
