Karbi Anglong to Observe State Mourning Day on August 16


DIPHU, Aug 11: Like the rest of the state, Karbi Anglong will observe ‘SOK DIVAS’ or State Mourning Day on August 16, 2019 to mourn the tragic death of the innocent persons in a bomb blast while attending the Independence Day celebration at Dhemaji in 2004. This was informed by Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong Mukul Kumar Saikia on Friday.

The press statement said that arrangements have been made to observe the event centrally at Circuit House Conference Hall, Diphu on August 16 at 10:45 am by observing one minute silence at 11:00 am sharp for the eternal peace of the departed souls.

“The National Flag will be flown at half mast in all Government offices and educational institutions. Educational Institutions have been instructed to observe the event and pledge to work united for peace and social harmony and raise their voices against all acts of militant violence,” the press statement concluded.
