AAFPA and KASA charity football match today


Diphu, JULY 12: Karbi Anglong Sport Association (KASA) and All Assam Football players Association will play a charity football match to raise fund for the bereaved family members of Santosh trophy player Lt. Apurba Kumar Phukan who died last year in a tragic road accident, KASA sources informed here today.

The match will be played between the two teams at Diphu on July 13, 2013 at KASA stadium.

The match will feature Indian Super leagues (ISL) and I-League players from Assam who represent Assam Football players Association and Karbi Anglong team. Sanjeeva Rongpi will lead the KASA XI team.

Mention can be made that Apurba died in a road accident last year near Naharkatia. He represented Assam in Santosh Trophy and other renowned state level clubs like ASEB Sports Club, Maharana Athletic Club, and FC Green Valley.

Disclosing the news to media, KASA general secretary Pankaj Teron said that at least 13 state players who are currently playing in different ISL and I League teams have come forward for the charity match.
