Autonomous State is in my Blood: Horensing Bey


HAMREN/DONKAMUKAM, April 13: Party candidate Horensing Bey who spoke at the rally said, “Autonomous state issue is in my blood and that is the reason I led the arm struggle for many years under the banner of United People’s Democratic Solidarity (UPDS) which struck peace deal and signed Memorandum of Settlement with the government”.

The statement came following persistent attack him terming him as extremist leader. The candidate made the statement during a public rally at Hamren New Market, in West Karbi Anglong today.

Talking about the disbanded outfit, Bey also said, “The UPDS has never had any hatred towards any tribes, race, caste or religion even in the past and instead we formed Peoples’ Alliance for Peace Agreement (PAPA) that had the support of 54 tribal and non-tribal organizations,” he recalled. He said that the success of MoS was an evidence of the support from all people of the hill districts irrespective of caste or religion. The BJP candidate while criticizing ASDC candidate and former MLA Holiram Terang said that not a single question was raised in the house when he was an MLA and that is why he was selected as the best Assemblyman.

Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang meanwhile said that he would retire from active politics if party candidate Horensing Bey loses Lok Sabha election. “I will retire from politics Horensing Beyji loses the contest. There is no question of defeat since both five MLAs, town committees of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts are belongs to the BJP,” Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) confident CEM Tuliram Ronghang claimed. “We proposed his name at high command in Delhi because he has the capacity to serve the people and also because he spearheaded movement for many years for the land and people of the hills districts,” he continued. He said that the right has come for the people of the hill districts to stand behind him and work for the people of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts.

Launching his attack at the sitting MP and INC candidate CEM Ronghang said that no development or progress was seen in the districts during his seventh term and he should be thankful to the people of both the districts and should join the BJP instead.

Present at the BJP rally include MLA Dr. Mansing Rongpi, EM Mongolsing Timung, Rupsing Teron, Amreng MAC Rina Terangpi and others.
