DIPHU, Mar 16: The Karbi Poets’ Meet, the two days programme with the aim of encouraging youths of Karbi Anglong in the field of literary initiative by Sahitya Academy in collaboration with Karbi Lammet Amai (KLA) is underway at Rangsina Sarpo Auditrorium Hall, Lorulangso, in Diphu on Saturday.
The inaugural session of the two days event was by Convenor of Bodo Advisory Board of Sahitya Academy, Anil Kumar Boro, welcome address was brief by programme officer of the academy, Mihir Kumar Sahoo. AUDC PVC Prof. Subhashish Biswas, guest of the event during his speech mentioned that six months certificate course of Karbi language has already been started in Assam University Diphu Campus and would help in promoting and preserving the rich Karbi language. The first batch of the six months course is underway and admission for the second batch is also underway. He also said that research works on Karbi culture has also been taken up by the university.
Eminent Bodo writer and guest Premananda Machahary said that the Karbis have rich culture but require more in written form to preserve its future. He expressed hope that Karbi Lammet Amai (KLA) is a great platform for its future. During the first session Dipali Amphi, Hirjir Ingti Katharpi, Liladhar Teron, Monju Teronpi and Sing Kro recited poems.
In the second session was chaired by writer Dhaneswar Engti during which Dhaniram Tisso, Joysing Rongpi, Joysing Tokbi, Karon Hansepi and Pari Rongpi recited their composition.
The last session of first day programme was chaired by Dr. Lipson Rongpi during which Dayaram Tokbi, Khagen Engti, Punyaram Teron, Samphrikimi Pangcho, Surya Rongphar and Welsing Hanse recited poems.
