DIPHU, Mar 14: The Lumbajong Youth Development Committee (LYDC) and Karbi Students & Youth Council (KSYC) in a press statement questioned the authority of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) whether it will ever fulfill its promises made to the public of Disama No. 2 in the month of October and seek immediate answer from them within a period of 5 days.
A press statement issued by LYDC president Alwin Timung and KSYC MAC president Sonjit Tisso stated that the two organizations along with hundreds of people from Disama No. 2 and its adjoining areas submitted a memorandum out of anguish and resentment on October 29, 2018 over KAAC’s negligence towards them.
Talking about the memorandum they had submitted six months back, KSYC and LYDC stated that they had demanded immediate allotment of land patta, black topping road, medical sub centre, drinking water facility, high school and others to the area in that particular memorandum.
“Since KAAC CEM and EM Raton Teron were absent on that particular day, we submitted our memorandum over to EM Khonsing Rongpi and Amarsing Tisso who promised us that KAAC will discuss about our grievances. However, 6 months had passed and we never heard anything from KAAC nor received any form of development so far,” the press statement said.
Mentioning that KAAC should answer their query within 5 days, LYDC and KSYC MAC threatened to launch a very rigorous protest if KAAC authority fails to call them a meeting or answer their question in newspapers. The press statement further stated that KAAC will be solely responsible for any form of casualties that might happen during the protest.
