SYC and KSA Visit Historic Karbi Village in Golaghat, Appeals KAAC for Assistance


BOKAJAN, March 12: Students’ & Youth Council (SYC) and Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) visited Karbi village in Chungajan area under Golaghat district.

During their visit, SGB Boronsing Engti Kathar told the two organizations that the village was established in 1949 by Karbis of Singhason, Lakhimpur, Doyang and other places. The SGB informed the organizations that there were total of 300 families when the village was established but now only 64 families remained. Out of this 224 are voters who have been exercising their voting rights during election.

Through the organization, the villagers appealed the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) for assistance possible under their authority for their overall development and protection of their distinct identity and culture.
