HAMREN, March 11: Polling for the lone Lok Sabha seat for the combined Karbi Anglong,West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao will be held on April 18. This was announced by WKA district administration at a press conference chaired by DC Syed Isfagur Rahman in Hamren today.
While addressing a press meet at the DC conference hall DC Rahman said that as per February 6, 2019, West Karbi Anglong district has over 1,01,384 male voters and 95,742 female voters, in total 1,97,126 voters is expected to exercise their franchise. The DC informed media persons that polling stations in WKA have been increased from 246 to 296.
WKA DC informed that Hamren Town will have five polling stations exclusively for women voters and the polling stations are Jirsong High school (RW & LW), Hamren Govt Higher Secondary School, Ambinong English LP School and Rongchingdon LP School. In addition to this, 38 areas have identified as shadow area and 9 zonal officers and 52 sectors have also been appointed and declared. Further, the DC informed that 20 polling stations have also been arranged for webcasting.
The DC reminded that the model code of conduct have been enforced from March 10 and 4 Flying Squad, 4 Static Surveillance Team (SST), 4 Video Viewing Team (VVT) and 1 Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) have also been arranged for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the election.
Voter Help No.1950 (Toll free No.1800-345-3528) and Control Room No.03677-230051 have also been already put in place for public assistance at Hamren Deputy Commissioner’s office.
