Karbi Youth Festival 2019 Concluded, Den-arong KCS Zone Grabs Best Team Award

DIPHU, Feb 20: The Karbi Youth Festival (KYF), being the oldest and biggest festival of Northeast India region was organized by Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) in collaboration with Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) at Karbi People’s Hall; Taralangso came to a close on Tuesday.

This year, Den-Arong KCS zone was declared as the best team, while runners-up ward was adjudged to Nihang Donsuri KCS Zone and the second runners-up goes to Diphu-Manja KCS Zone. All the three KCS zones were honoured with Trophy, Certificate and Cash money of Rs. 50,000/- Rs.30, 000/- and Rs.20, 000/- respectively.

Unlike, the other years this time the festival was held for a stretch of six days starting from February 14-19, 2019 with simultaneously holding various competitions in all the five stages comprising Sing Mirjeng, Long Mirjeng, Hemphu-Mukrang-Rasingja, Semson Sing Ingti and Longbi-Chedu open stage.

During the full five days competition altogether twenty-six KCS Zones including participants from outside Karbi Anglong like Dumra KCS unit of Sonitpur and Biswanath KCS of Biswanath chari-ali district. The competition items like Rongketong, Nimso Kirung, Ritnong Chingdi, Chong kedam, Karbi Modern Song, Bong-oi alun, Chengpi kethip, Tarlok kiti (Quiz), Chengburuk kethip, Kedong-dang race, Husking of paddy, Muritongpo kebut, One act play, Dead lift, Modern group dance, poem writing competition, drawing competition for school students, Spinning of Yarn , Hambi kapathu, Tug-of-War (male and female), Hand Weaving and others.

The organizers also conducted competition on wooden craft, Peh Amar song (Female), Debate, Kumdengdong , Lokhi keplang, Krong-chui, Arms Wrestling, Mr. KYF’19, Solo Dance, Hacha kekan, Extempore Speech, Tuva-eh (lullaby), Banjar kekan, Song Hanribong, song Michongkret, Miss KYF, Mr. Nokbe’19, Nokbe Kekat (Marathon Race), Kacharhe (Wailing song), Making fire in traditional way, Rock Contest ‘Battle of the Bands’.

The closing ceremony of the great annual event allied with Rangsina Sarpo Cultural Nite held on February 19 where chief guest and chief patron of the festival KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang said that KAAC is going to construct Tourist Lodge at the site as propose by KCS president CS Kro and will be completed before the 46th KYF, 2020. He also stated that CCTV will be installed at the festival site for security reasons. He further appeals the KCS central committee to handover the land of Karbi People’s Hall, Taralangso to KAAC for proper utilization of the venue, protection and development.

“The ongoing construction of four ways road and installation of solar light will complete within 2/3 months, the entire muddy link road to KPH will be upgraded with paver blocks beside beautification of KPH, Tarlangso with trhe next financial year,” he assured.

Tourists from Germany, France, United Kingdom, Wales, New Zealand and United States of America and tourists from within the country witnessed the festival, sources added.
