Central Bushu Dima Celebrated in Haflong


HAFLONG, Feb 02: The most major festival of the Dimasa Tribes ‘Busu Dima’ was centrally celebrated in Haflong the district head quarter of Dima Hasao with great zeal. Usually the ‘Busu’ starts from 27th January and celebrated in different part of Dima

Hasao like Gunjung, Diyungbra, Harangajao and Maibang to mention few.
The Central ‘Busu’ was organized by Greater Haflong Busu Celebration Committee in the premises of N.L Daulagupu Sports Complex, Haflong with a day program on Thursday where scores of people from nook and corners of the Haflong join together.

Later in the evening ‘Baikho’ a dance hall was inaugurated by chief guest NCHAC CEM Debolal Gorlosa in presence of newly elected MACs and other karyokartas of BJP Dima Hasao unit.

During the program Pramith Sengyung, Secretary Greater Haflong Busu Celebration Committee announced that unlike other year the Central Busu will be celebrated on 27th January in a grand manner as the state govt. has granted restrict holiday under the N.I Act. He also said that the central Busu will be celebrated in particular place centrally for all Dimasa tribes living in Assam and the place of celebration to be fix by the committee each year in Dimasa dominated places within the state.

It can be mentioned that ‘Busu’ the biggest festivals of Dimasa Community signify the festival of harvesting and rejoicing newly grown rice and other social rituals, which reflects the rich culture and tradition of the Dimasa community.
