BJP Sweeps NCHAC Election, INC Candidate Win with Highest Votes in Haflong

HAFLONG, Jan 23: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has captured 19 MAC constituencies while opposition Congress has managed to secure 2 seats in the elections while AGP secure 1 seat and 6 seats by the independent candidates to the 12th North Cachar Hills Autonomous council (NCHAC).

The counting of ballots began at Don Bosco High School from 8:30 am. of 22nd till 3:30 am on 23rd January. In 1 Haflong INC candidate Daniel Langthasa (fresh) defeated his rival BJP candidate Jivraj Daulagupu by a margin of 820 votes. He also defeated his rival AGP candidate ex-MP and CEM Prakanta Warisa.

In 2 Jatinga Independent candidate Flaming Rupsi Shylla defeated his rival independent candidate Robert T Changsan by a margin of 286 votes, while 3 Borail BJP candidate Ngulminlal Lienthang defeated his rival BJP candidate Suankhumang Changsan by a margin of 245 votes.In 4 Mahur constituency, BJP candidate Rahul Naiding defeated his nearest rival congress candidate Joel Lamkhojon Sengyung by a margin of 954 votes. In 5 Jinam BJP candidate Zosumthang Hmar (fresh) defeated his rival independent candidate Lalrokhum Zate by a margin of 581 votes and in 6 Hangrum independent candidate Noah Daime (fresh) defeated his rival BJP candidate Kehungsamying Nriame by a margin of 252 votes. In the same manner, 7 Laisong, BJP candidate Paudamming Nriame defeated his rival independent candidate Keseusang Nriame by a margin of 1148 votes.

Similar results was also seen in 8 Dauthuhaja where, BJP candidate Nipolal Hojai (BJP Prez) defeated his rival INC candidate Nirmal Langthasa (Cong Prez) by a margin of 328 votes.

In 9 Maibang East BJP candidate Nandita Gorlosa defeated his rival independent candidate Pirub Bodo by a margin of 1066 votes. Nandita Gorlosa will be the second sitting woman MAC in NCHAC after Ranu Langthasa.

On the other hand, in 10 – Maibang (West) independent candidate Bijit Langthasa defeated his nearest rival BJP candidate Subrata Thaosen by notable 1368 votes. Bijit Langthasa secured 2499 votes, while Subrata Thaosen got 1131 votes, while in 11 Kalachand BJP candidate Ratan Jarambusa defeated his rival independent candidate Monesh Phonglo by a margin of 1235 votes.

In 12 Wajao BJP candidate Biswajit Daulagupu defeated his rival AGP candidate Raolish Kemprai by a margin of 1351 votes. Similar result was witnessed in 13 Hajadisa, where BJP candidate Projith Hojai defeated his rival independent candidate Thaisodao Thaosen by a margin of 141 votes. Projith Hojai secured 1003 votes while Thaisodao Thaosen (who was denied BJP ticket) secured 862 votes.

Meanwhile in 14 Langting BJP candidate Golonjo Thaosen defeated AGP candidate Debojeet Thaosen by a margin of 1041 votes. Former CEM and AGP leader Debojeet Thaosen was defeated by BJP’s fresh candidate Golonjo Thaosen in Langting MAC constituency.

Another shock result was witnessed in 15 Hatikhali, where BJP candidate Kulendra Daulagupu was defeated by independent candidate Bimal Hojai by a margin of 27 votes. In 16 Diyungbra constituency, BJP candidate Nobojit Hojai defeated his nearest Congress rival by a margin of 1144 votes. Nobojit Hojai got 2684 votes, while Mayanon Kemprai secured 1540 votes.

On the hand 17 Garampani constituency, INC candidate Joysing Durong defeated his rival independent candidate Dormen Enghi by a margin of 352 votes while, in18 Khartong constituency BJP candidate Lalremsiama Darnei defeated his rival AGP candidate Lal Joshua Biate by a margin of 306 votes.

In 19 Dehangi BJP candidate Debolal Gorlosa defeated his rival independent candidate Lokhyamoni Langthasa by a margin of 2367 votes while, in 20 Gunjung constituency, BJP candidate Nojit Kemprai defeated his nearest rival AGP candidate Bijoyendra Sengyung by a margin of 1156 vote. Nojit Kemprai got 1568 votes, while Bijoyendra Sengyung secured 412 votes. Former CEM and former MLA Samarjit Haflongbar who contested from NPP ticket managed to get only 113 votes.

In 21 Hadingma, BJP candidate Devojit Bathari defeated his nearest rival AGP candidate Ajit Hojai by a margin of 1102 votes and in 22 Dehamlai independent candidate Ramgalungbe Jeme defeated his rival BJP candidate by a margin of 132 votes.

In 23 Harangajao BJP candidate Amendu Hojai has been recorded 3428 votes with highest number of winning margin by 2454 votes defeating his rival AGP candidate Muktangshu Hojai. In 24 Hamri constituency, Monjit Naiding defeated his nearest rival Independent candidate Mohendra Kemprai by a margin of 84 votes. In 25 Lower Khartong, BJP candidate Ngamrothang Hmar defeated his rival AGP candidate Lalropui Hmar by a margin of 21 votes. Ngamrothang Hmar secured 799 votes, while Lalropui Hmar got 778 votes. Congress candidate Lalthangzuol Joute is in the third of the race by securing 314 votes.

In 26 Dolong constituency, Independent candidate Suanthangjem Hrangkhol defeated his nearest rival another independent candidate H. Ramhuolsang Hrangkhol by a margin of 7 votes. Suanthangjem Hrangkhol got 361 votes while H. Ramhuolsang Hrangkhol got 354 votes. BJP’s Lalhmingthang Hrangkhol managed to secure 84 votes while Congress candidate John Phoitong was polled only 229 votes.

In 27 Diger MAC constituency, BJP candidate Hen Samuel Changsan defeated his rival congress candidate by a margin of 84 votes. Hen Samuel Changsan got 579 votes, while Satminthang Khongsai managed to secure 495 votes.

In 28 Semkhor Ranu Langthasa retained her BJP ticket by defeating his nearest rival AGP candidate by a margin of 196 votes. Ranu Langthasa got 645 votes while Proshanta Phonglo managed to get 449 votes.

Addressing media persons Debolal Gorlosa said that the Council will form within first week of February after consulting with the Assam governor, he also said that maximum winning independent candidates are indirect supporters of BJP. He also added that the winning independent candidates will be intake as per the decision of the BJP Assam Pradesh.
