Wins silver in 64th Nat’l School Game Wushu Championship
DIPHU, Jan 16: In encouraging news for people of Karbi Anglong, Hongbari Timungpi who is part of the Assam Wushu team for the 64th National School Game Wushu Championship, won silver medal for the state. The 64th National School Game Wushu Championship being played Thakur Viswanath Sahdeo Indoor Stadium, Mega Sports Complex, Hotwar, Ranchi, Jharkhand was concluded on Sunday. Participating in the national Wushu Championship which began on January 10, 2018, Assam Wushu Team finished with two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
The Wushu team from Assam won one gold, two silvers and two bronze in the ‘Sanshou’ or ‘Free Fighting’ competition. Korobi Rajbongshi struck gold in the 40 kg. weight category, while Chishila Musahary and Hongbari Timungpi from Karbi Anglong won silver medals in the 56 and 65 weight category respectively. Bandana Musahary managed to earn bronze in the 65 kg category.
The Wushu championship was organized by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Jharkhand, Ranchi.
