Preservation of one’s own culture is not contempt to others culture: Surjya Rongphar
DIPHU, Jan 13: The two day long 1st Havar Fest which started on January 11 concluded on January 12 amid much pomp and show at Amlokhi Sports Association playground, Rongthelu, Manja.
On the concluding day, the event started with drawing competition which was inaugurated by headmistress of Amlokhi LP School Amphu Terangpi and quiz competition inaugurated by editor of Karbi Anglong Today Longbir Terang. At around 12:00 pm, a poets’ meet cum poetry competition was held after an inauguration by social worker Joysing Timung. In poetry competition, Mensing Ingti of Nohing Ingti Arong, Manja was placed in the 1st position, Jameson Teron of Hanjanglangso in 2nd position and Rupsing Ingti of Hanjanglangso was placed in 3rd position respectively.
In the later part of the day, an awareness programme on the topic ‘Our land is our pride, shall strive to uplift it’ was held in which the event was chaired by ex-EM, KAAC and noted poet Surjya Rongphar. Renowned educationist Mahesh Ronghang, social worker Sabin Rongpipi and advocate Dhonison Lekthe were the speakers.
In the evening, a prize distribution programme was held in which KAAC EM i/c Education Jagatsing Engti attended as chief guest along with several dignitaries who include KAAC chairman Longki Timung, Krist Rongphar and others. Prize distribution was followed by modern dance competition and Miss Havar 2019 contest. Klardang Kramsapi was declared the winner of Miss Havar 2019 title. A cultural night programme started at around 8:00 pm. Several noted Karbi artists who include Prem Terang, Semson Ingti, Jyoti Terangpi, Nitu Timungpi, Christin Teron and others performed their numbers.
