27th Annual Conference of KLA from January 21,Organizers Appeal not to Call any Bandh


DIPHU, Jan 11: The 27th Annual Conference of Karbi Lammet Amei (KLA), the foremost literary body of the Karbi tribe of the region will be held from January 21-24, 2019 at Hemphu Mukrang Aklam, Jirikindeng in West Karbi Anglong, KLA sources said on Friday.

Sources added that the four day event will witnessed literary activities including poem recitation, extempore speech, poet’s meet and literary meets. Assam Sahitya Sabha president Parmananda Rajbongshi and general secretary, Indigenous Tribes Sahitya Sabha, Kamala Kanta Mushahary and other literary persons are expected to attend the conference.

On January 23, the Karbi traditional King Ramsing Ronghang will attend the event as chief guest. On the concluding day the KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang will grace the occasion as chief guest.

Secretary of Reception Committee Kamalsing Ingti has appealed all social and youth organisations in the district not to call any bandh during the given date for the smooth functioning of the event. “We have many things to fix up for the smooth arrangement of the conference like fooding, lodging, etc. for outside delegates. We have been tirelessly working for the big event and if there is any emergency bandh it will affect the entire planning,” said Ingti.
