HALFLONG, Dec 27: As anticipated the Assam State Election Commissioner finally announced for the election to the 12th N C Hills Autonomous Council on December 22 last. In this connection the Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner cum District Returning Officer, Amitabh Rajkhowa held a press meets in his office and addressed the media person highlighting on the ensuing election.
Rajkhowa said that the 12th N C Hills Autonomous Council Election is slated on January 19, 2019 and the filling period for nomination to contest the election started from December 24, 2018 to January 03, 2019 between 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and can be submitted excluding public holidays notified under NI Act including Sunday. The scrutiny of the nomination paper will be done on 04.01.2019 between11:00 AM to 3:00 PM along with publication of the list of validly nominated candidates and the withdrawal of candidature is on 07.01.2019 between11:00 AM to 3:00 PM along with publication of final list of contesting candidate.
While the date of polling and time is slated on January 19, 2019 between 7:00 AM to 3:00 and the date of re-poll if any is scheduled on January 21, 2019 between 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Other hand the date of counting will be done on January 22, 2019 from 8:00 AM onwards till the completion of the counting process for the entire constituency.
Deputy Commissioner cum District Returning Officer, Amitabh Rajkhowa informed that poll will conducted in ballot paper and there is there is approximately 1,22,200 voters in 28 constituencies and the numbers might increase with the completion of update till poll date. He also said that the those voters who couldn’t find their names in recent voter list may include their names and informed that a help desk will be establish to address various issues and grievance related to the election and for smooth conduction departmental head will be deputed during election for smooth conduction of the election.
He also informed that there is all together 280 polling station in the district out of which 86 are very sensitive while 101 are sensitive and 93 are comprehensively safe polling stations. He further said that in vulnerable and sensitive polling station exclusive security measures will be taken by way establishing temporary security base camp to thwart any violent and additional security forces to be deployed to conduct the free, fair and peaceful election. He also said that model code of conduct in connection with the 12th N C Hills Autonomous Council constituency is forced with immediate effect in the district of Dima Hasao.
To be mentioned that the term of the 12th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council was completed on 6th of June 2018 which later was extended for six months till December 06, 2018? Later as per the directives of the Hon’ble Guwahati High Court, the election procedure is to be completed before February 15, 2019.
