Indian Army Organize Football Tournament in Hamren


BORGAN, Dec 15: The Indian Army of Red Horns Division deployed at Hamren has conducted Football Tournament from December 9 -14 December 14, 2018 at Hamren playground.

According to sources, the aim of the tournament is to encourage the local football clubs of the district and instill a sense of confidence and earn goodwill from local population through the most popular game of this region.

The event witnessed vigorous participation from 10 Football Clubs with 150 players and many civil volunteers. “There was huge turnout of public who were also appreciated of the efforts taken by the Indian Army towards providing a platform and encouragement to local youths. These types of events helps foster Confidence Building Measures and also provide methods for weaning away the youth from the influence of insurgent groups,” Army statement added.

The final match was played on December 14 where Dr. Mansing Rongpi, local MLA, Ishqfaqur Rehman ACS, DC Hamren, Mrinal Talukdar, SP Hamren, Sona Terang, Under Secretary, KAAC and other have witnessed the match.

A cash prize of Rs 20,000/- for winner and Rs 10,000/- for the runners-up was given along with trophy and shields. All participants were also given certificates of participation on request.
