KFA celebrates its 8th Foundation Day


Let’s make Karbi Anglong an organic district: Tuliram Ronghang

DIPHU, Dec 6: The Karbi Farmers’ Association (KFA) on Thursday celebrated its 8th Foundation Day at two locations in Diphu.

KFA (Samsing Hanse) celebrated their foundation day at Diphu Club while KFA (Rajesh Tisso) celebrated at Joysing Doloi Terang Auditorium hall, Diphu.

KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang while attending the celebration as chief guest at Diphu Club said that priority should be given on Agriculture in the district as the Council, State or Central government couldn’t be able to provide jobs to all youths. The present Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) authority is trying to promote organic farming in the region. “The land of our district is fertile which not required any pesticide or fertilizer in any kind of plantation.  If our land is so fertile then why can’t we make our district as an organic district? In order to promote agriculture activities in the district, the department is always to provide free saplings and seeds to the farmers. Villagers or famers in our districts don’t deposit their money in bank for their future needs but they only hope from agriculture products,” said CEM Ronghang.

He also said that in order to distribute free saplings to farmers, the department of Horticulture and Forest are making enough nursery like betel nut, chandan, petai, etc. The Council will also give loan from Rs. 1 lakh to 5 lakh for piggery; duckery and others and where the department will give 33.3% subsidy.  As this hour, we don’t need theory but need to do it practically for self employment. As per the vision document submitted by the KFA Central Executive Committee, the authority is trying to implement one after the other.

The KFA vision document includes policies for making profitable, encouragement of organic farming and declaration of Karbi Anglong as organic district, formation of policies for making paddy, broom, cane & bamboo and spices a profitable agribusiness. They also demanded for minimum wages, direct cash transfer into farmers bank account, possession of land & reform, modify  tenancy of Land Act, modifying of Wild life and Forest Act, long term and stock of export policies, training and technology contribution, assistance or grant-in-aid, compensation of victim, pension, corporate social responsible, water efficiency, crop and animal husbandry insurance, democracy movements, reservation of vacancies in service and post and the information and public relation.

Other guests who attended the celebration includes  KAAC EM Amarsing Tisso,  i/c Agriculture etc, MACs Ramsing Timung, Dorsing Ronghang, Prabhat Ch. Taro, Thekar Editor Longsing Teron and other dignitaries.

At Joysing Doloi Terang auditorium hall, the meeting was chaired by its president Rajesh Tisso and the object of the meeting was briefed out by general secretary Mohon Teron. While adviser of 24+ organizations JI Kathar, IAS (Retd) attended as chief guest.
