DIPHU, Nov 25: Diphu Baptist Church (DBC) Pastor Hilson Singnar was ordained as Reverend during a worship service programme at the church in Diphu today. The ordination service was administered by Council of Baptist Churches of NE India (CBCNEI) general secretary and Nihang Karbi Baptist Association (NKBA) Ordination Board chairman, Rev. Dr. Solomon Rongpi.
Pastor Hilson Singnar has been Pastor of DBC for ten years. During the year end of 2016 the church leaders and members of DBC has approached the NKBA, to which it is affiliated praying for their Pastor Singnar to be ordained Reverend. After much observation on the pastoral work and personal life of Pastor Singnar, the Ordination Board accepted the proposal of DBC to ordain their Pastor as Reverend.
Rev. Dr. Solomon delivering his sermon from 1 Tomothy 3:2-7 and 1 Titus spoke about the pastoral job, ministry and responsibility of ordained Reverends toward the church.
“It is a sacred responsibility and always depend on the Holy Spirit to guide you in your ministry, Dr. Rongpi told the newly ordained Reverend.
Pastor Rev. Singnar after being ordained as Reverend while expressing his gratefulness to God and to the whole congregation said, “It is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our eyes’- a reference from Psalm 118:23. It is God’s faithfulness as it has made it in the golden jubilee year for DBC, which has made me humble for the eye of God. Glory be to God for his wonderful works done to me.”
Reverend Singnar is the second child of late Bapuram Singnar and Rojoni Kropi of Rongkangthui, Diphu. He did his school from Union Christian English School now Christian English High School, Diphu. He completed pre-university and BA from Union Christian College, Barapani, Shillong. He completed degree with honours in Philosophy from St. Anthony’s college, Shillong and MA in Philosophy from NEHU in 1995. He took over as pastor of Diphu Baptist Church in 2006, when Rev. Dr. Solomon Rongpi was called to National Council of Churches in India in Nagpur.
Apart from Rev. Dr. Solomon Rongpi, present at the ordination programme include Rev. Davidson Engti, Rev. Benting Teron; Rev. Khoyasing Ronghang, Rev. James Rongpi and Rev. Sena Lekthe. Family members, relatives and well-wishers also took part in the ordination programme.
