KAAC Hold 232nd Session, Pay Rich Tribute to Former PM AB Vajpayee and LS Speaker Somnath Chatterjee

DIPHU, Nov 05: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) held its 232nd session at Session Hall here in Diphu today. The session commenced at 10 am and was chaired by Speaker Longki Timung to pay tribute former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away on August 16, 2018 and former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee who passed away in August 13, 2018.

KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang during his speech recalled the great leadership of the former Prime Minister who was also the first BJP president and the first leader from the saffron party to become the Prime Minister of India. CEM Ronghang also stated that the former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee who was born on December 25, 1924 in Gwalior, was fluent in many languages and was able to speak in 14 languages. The Good Governance Day which is observed on December 25, 2018, is a fitting tribute of the visionary leadership and great soul. Further CEM recalled his contribution towards the development of Assam and other northeastern states of India and stated that the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge, connecting the northeast states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, proposed and cleared when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the prime minister of India and therefore, his contribution will never be forgotten by the people of Assam.

KAAC CEM also paid tribute to former Lok Sabha speaker from 2004 to 2009. CEM Ronghang stated that the former Lok Sabha speaker was born in Tezpur and was a CPI-M member from 1973 to 2008. He was the leader of his party in the Lok Sabhafrom 1989 until 2004. He was elected for the tenth time in 2004 as a member of the 14th Lok Sabha and was appointed as the pro tem speaker and subsequently on 4 June, 2004, he was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 14th Lok Sabha, CEM Ronghang said.

CEM Ronghang concluded his speech stating that the blessings and inspiration of both the leaders would continue and hope it would help in fulfilling the long pending demand and aspiration of Karbi Anglong districts.
