Appeals for Recommendation of Article 244 (A) for its Immediate Implementation
DIPHU, Oct 09: Karbi Anglong-North Cachar Hills Autonomous State Demand Committee (KANCHASDCOM) and its allies expressed their gratitude to Assam’s speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami for taking initiative to discuss about the problems of socio-economic upliftment of the twin hills district of Assam on September 26 and subsequently convening the session on October 5, 2018 in the Legislative Assembly.
The KANCHASDCOM and its allies which include Karbi Students’ Association (KSA), Karbi Riso Adorbar (KRA), Karbi So Arlo Amei (KARSA) and Karbi Unemployed Youth Association (KUYA) in a press statement stated that it was the first ever initiative under the new clause ‘speaker’s initiative’ where representatives of the social organizations and social workers of the Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao Autonomous Hills Districts, both ruling and opposition parties MLAs of other districts of Assam could take the privilege to express their opinion on the said problem in the special session of the assembly on September 26 as well as on October 5.
“We offer our heartfelt gratitude to 5 MLAS from the two hills districts who include Bhadra Hagjer, Dr. Numal Momin, Joyram Engleng, Dr. Mansing Rongpi and HAD minister Sum Ronghang for taking part in the special session and expressed their opinions on the said problems of the socio-economic upliftment and its related burning political problem of the Article 244 (A) of the Indian constitution favoring its immediate implementation fully,” the statement said.
KANCHASDCOM and its allies also thanked all MLAs belonging to both opposition and ruling for taking part in the session and expressing their opinions towards uplifting the trouble torn hills districts. They also thanked the government of Assam for its initiative and also appealed it to recommend for the implementation of Article 244 (A) of the constitution to the central government immediately for the socio-economic upliftment of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts.
