BORGAON, Sept. 13: ‘Clean and Green Village Mission’, a mission program planned by the Environment and Forest Department kicked off today after being inaugurated by brand ambassador Chandrakanta Basumutary at Bormarjong in West Karbi Anglong district. It is an initiative of Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal.
Bormarjong is among 33 villages in as many districts in the state where the mission is being launched with an objective of making Assam one of the cleanest states of India. The mission program which is an initiative of chief minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, which was held at Bormarjong was organised under the MyGov Assam initiative in association with PHE, District Administration and Sports and Youth Affairs departments. Present at the program were from myGovt ASSAM Dipankar Saikia, Himalay Sarma and Dhiraj Deka, Dr Mansing Rongpi Baithalangso MLA, Amri MAC D Uphing Maslai, KAAC EM Prodip Diphusa and OSD, KAAC, Hamren and ADC Hamren Anil Chandra Das.
In his address, Chandrakanta Basumutary renewed his appeal to the people to take up responsibility for protection of forest and environment. “A plastic-free environment is essential for the human race to sustain on this earth,” he added.
Local Dr Mansing Rongpi during his speech stated that cleanliness is next to godliness and said that every household in West Karbi Anglong should follow the path of cleanliness and arch everyone to be a part of this program and make west Karbi Anglong district as the cleanest village in India. Local representative and Amri MAC D Uphing Maslai thanked Sonowal lead government at the state level and KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang for selecting this village from amongst the 33 villages in Assam.
Bormarjong is an Tiwa village situated in Amri constituency of west Karbi Anglong district, where women folks lead the family. This village is a blessed with its beauty with mountains in all sides. Maslai the local representative said that Amri is a home for tourists as this constituency is God’s gifted beauty and arch everyone present in the program to come forward and spread the message of cleanliness to other parts of the District, state and nation. He also thanked all the NGOs for making the effort in spreading the message of Tourisn in parts of Assam and India. It is to be noted that Shikdamakha the cleanest village in ASSAM is near to this village.
MyGovt Assam team interacted with the public present and said that their suggestions will be forwarded to ASSAM CHEIF minister.
Tree saplings and sports items were distributed by forest and Sports and Youth Affairs departments respectively among the villagers on the occasion. The local villagers wholeheartedly took part in the programme and promised to carry forward the Chief Minister’s vision of ‘Clean and Green Village.
