ASDC welcomes High Court’s verdict to conduct elections of NCHAC within Dec. 3

DIPHU, Sept 13: The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) has welcomed the verdict of Gauhati High Court directing the state government to conduct election to the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) within 3rd December 2018. This was informed by ASDC propaganda wing member Kamalsing Bey here this evening.

Mentioning that the court has restricted the state government from extending the term of the NCHAC after expiry of each term beyond December 3, the regional party stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), by refusing to conduct the election has bulldozed democracy and the democratic rights of the people were curtailed.

“The verdict of the court has also implied in respect of Town Committees in Karbi Anglong as well where elections were stalled as BJP were afraid to face election because of the decreasing popularity of the party in the face of escalating failure and rampant corruption.
