Army distributes sewing machines and chairs to women of Koken village


DIPHU, Sept 13: In continuation of the noble project to reach out to the people of Karbi Anglong, the Red Horns Divisions at Saijong camp of the Indian army distributed ten electronic sewing machines and ten chairs to the womenfolk of Khoken village in east Karbi Anglong today. This was informed through a press note here today.

The distribution program was inaugurated in presence of civilians including senior citizens, Gaon Burahs and prominent personalities of the district, said the army.

The distribution of sewing machine and chairs was organised for women of BPL families in far flung areas of the district with the objective to help them to find employment, make them self reliant and increase their source of income thereby improving the quality of their lives and of their families as well, the press statement added.

The noble program was carried out under Operation Sadbhavana Project for the FY 2018-19 was received with positive response by local people who have also appreciated the effort of civil administration and the army for the great gesture.
