Pokhila Engtipi, daughter of green vegetables grocer and hailing from remote Karbi village near Diphu town is one of the participants.
Despite rising humble from the beginning and hailing from a place where there were no run track, no other facilities, she had to train on a rough road and muddy field she bought laurels for the country and played pivotal role to the Indian’s triumph.
She also proved the nation that Tribal’s people can immensely contribute in the field of Sports if they were given a platform. Where other community cannot, but the tribal can is the real picture from the ongoing games at Penang, Malaysia.
It is sad realities that in spite of having immense talent in various field hill tribes remain neglected and marginalized. However, through their raw strength, stamina, creativity and killer instinct have made India proud in the sport arena. Therefore potential of the tribes people need to be tapped fully to bring more laurels for the nation.
